Hurricane Francine is tracking toward the Louisiana Coast and is expected to make landfall Wednesday evening. The storm will bring significant rain and wind to Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, particularly the Mississippi Coast, as it continues to track on northeastern path.
Cities and local businesses across South Mississippi are preparing for the storm’s sweep through the area. This means many local services will be unavailable. This includes food delivery and especially pizza delivery.
Several local pizza joints and franchises have already closed or have plans to close early on Wednesday. It is still possible to have pizza delivered in some areas, but the window to order is closing quickly. Here is a list of plans made by many of the Coast’s pizza delivery services.
Domino’s
RPM Pizza in Gulfport is the largest Domino’s franchisee in the United States and operates each Domino’s location on the Coast. RPM Pizza informed the Sun Herald it would likely abide by city curfews. For Gulfport, that’s 6 p.m. Wednesday through 5:59 a.m. Thursday.
Bay St. Louis and Waveland will be under a strict, non-emergency travel curfew beginning at 10 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday.
No other Coast city has a curfew implemented as of Wednesday afternoon. Domino’s locations in Pascagoula, Ocean Springs and Biloxi told the Sun Herald they have no orders to close early. Their normal operating hours end at midnight.
Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut franchises on the Coast are expected to close early. According to the location on Courthouse Road in Gulfport, “Most locations on the Coast” are expected to have taken their final orders for Wednesday by 3 p.m. The Bay St. Louis location also said it was expecting an early closure, but had not received word.
Decisions regarding Thursday’s operating hours have not been made at this time.
Papa John’s
The Papa John’s locations on the Coast have staggered hours the further West they are located.
The location in Waveland is closed for the day and the Gulfport location on Highway 49 takes its final orders before 4 p.m. The Biloxi Papa John’s on Pass Road closes at 7 p.m. and the Ocean Springs store on Bienville hasn’t received early closing orders, but will only be taking carryout orders.
Local pizza
- Brooklyn Pizzeria locations close at 4 p.m.
- Tom’s Extreme Pizzeria in Ocean Springs is closed all day Wednesday.
- Lost Pizza Co. in Ocean Springs in closed all day Wednesday.
- Pug’s Pizza on Porter Avenue in Biloxi does not have any altered hours at the moment, but is subject to change. Their normal operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All hours are subject to change. The availability of food delivery services underscores the importance of storm preparedness as most locations alter hours to avoid delivering during peak weather events.
