Here’s who made the cut for Mississippi’s two big all-star football games
Eleven Coast football standouts have been selected to represent both South Mississippi and the Magnolia State in December’s annual all-star classics.
Gulfport linebacker Karlos Dillard and St. Stanislaus offensive lineman Brandon Tartavoulle were the lone Coast selections to play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic, which is scheduled for a noon kickoff Dec. 16 at Southern Miss. Pearl River Central coach Larry Dolan and Ocean Springs coach Ryan Ross were selected to coach the defensive line and linebackers respectively.
The Coast will have plenty of representation in the Bernard Blackwell Classic, which pits the North against the South.
South Mississippians selected for the game are: Poplarville defensive back D.J. Travis, Ocean Springs DB Malcolm Magee, Resurrection defensive lineman Jackson Byrd, St. Martin kicker Sean Gomez, George County linebacker Austin Walker, St. Stanislaus quarterback Jake Greer, Harrison Central running back Keon Moore, East Central running back Tony Brown and ECHS receiver Brad Cumbest. George County coach Matt Caldwell will be the South’s head coach with GCHS coordinator Ron Renfroe serving as an assistant.
The Bernard Blackwell game is scheduled for noon Dec. 9 at Gulfport.
