Gulfport firefighters battling blaze at a house downtown

Gulfport Fire Chief Mike Beyerstedt said his department is currently battling a house fire downtown on Dixie Avenue.

He said the Gulfport Fire Department responded about 4 p.m. and that the house was fully engulfed.

Beyerstedt said it’s unclear at this time what started the fire or if anyone was home.
