It’s been unseasonably warm in the area so it makes sense that we would root for a nice, crisp autumnal Thanksgiving in 2024.

We can look at long-range forecasts all we want, but Mississippi weather is notoriously unpredictable. That being said, we can study historical data and look to current predictions to get a general idea of what the weather might be like on Turkey Day.

Thanksgiving is on the 28th this year, and the end of November is usually pretty nice. This year doesn’t seem to deviate from that, although it may be a little warmer than we’re used to during the day.

AccuWeather’s extended forecast shows a high temperature of 69 degrees and a low of 55 degrees for Thanksgiving, with a heavy chance of rain.

The morning will be mostly cloudy, with light showers turning into a thunderstorm in the afternoon. The rain may linger into the evening with spotty showers here and there.

The Farmer’s Almanac makes a similar prediction.

There was severe weather in the days leading up to Thanksgiving last year, but before that, the last instance of really bad weather was a tornado in 1926. The rain won’t likely turn worrisome, but you may have to move the tables inside for dinner.

As always with long-range forecasts, it’s important to remember that all predictions are subject to change. Keep checking with the Sun-Herald to get helpful and timely updates on Thanksgiving weather.
