Man under arrest after Gulfport shooting leaves victim in critical condition, police say
Police have charged a man with aggravated assault following a shooting on U.S. 49 in Gulfport early Friday morning.
Officers arrested Byron Lee Cuevas, 23, after police responded to the shooting in the 9400 block of Highway 49 at 12:37 a.m. Friday.
Police found a male suffering from multiple gunshots at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital and is in stable but critical condition.
Police say the two men were involved in a verbal altercation before the shooting occurred.
The bond was set at $500,000 for Cuevas.
