A city of D’Iberville employee died over the weekend after a collision on Highway 15 earlier this month, city leaders announced Wednesday.
Davey Quave, an electrician for the Public Works Department, died Saturday after suffering serious injuries in a crash on Oct. 13. In a news release, City Manager Bobby Weaver said Quave was a “valued employee” who helped maintain and run the city’s streetlights, buildings, emergency generators and water and sewer systems.
“We ask for heartfelt prayers of comfort for the Quave family during these most challenging times,” he said.
The crash, just north of Lamey Bridge Road, also killed William “Brad” Parr, 48, of Perkinston, according to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer. Authorities said Parr’s Toyota Prius collided head-on with Quave’s public works truck. The city said Quave had been on his way to work on a pump station.
Quave served the city since 2019. He also helped support city events, bonded with coworkers and became a mentor for younger employees, who admired his hard work and talent. Weaver called Quave “a wonderful example of a true public servant.”
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and extended family members.
