Harrison County

Should I avoid Interstate 110 this week? Here’s how long you could wait in traffic.

If your daily commute includes Interstate 110, leave early and be prepared to get home late.

Motorists can continue to expect traffic jams and congestion Tuesday and for the remainder of the week in Biloxi and D’Iberville as roadwork is completed on the interstate.

Construction near the I-110 drawbridge in Harrison County started on July 26 to a repair a median. On a near daily basis since the start of the repairs, Mississippi Department of Transportation has issued traffic warnings near Rodriguez Street and Bayview Avenue, Exit 1D.

The northbound and southbound inside lane closures will last until Aug. 9, MDOT said.

Some motorists have tried to drive around the road work, as a result traffic has been noticeably heavier on U.S. 90 during rush hour.

Traffic is most congestion during the morning and late afternoon commutes, with some drivers spending as long as 15 to 45 minutes on the interstate bridge.

Motorists are asked to drive slow and be aware of roadside construction workers.

You can keep up with traffic alerts and see the congestion in real-time on MDOT’s traffic cam.
