Rejoice! All lanes of I-10 on MS, LA state line open after months of traffic congestion
If you drive Interstate 10 into Louisiana on a regular basis, it’s time to rejoice.
The Pearl River Bridge between the Mississippi and Louisiana line has finally reopened, the Mississippi Department of Transportation confirmed to the Sun Herald on Monday.
A small portion of one lane on the bridge had been closed since mid-January after a semi-truck carrying BMW’s crashed and caught fire damaging the bridge.
The closure resulted in near daily delays for travelers going westbound on I-10 near Exit 2 near Waveland. There would be hours of congestion most days, with drivers sometimes getting caught in miles of traffic jams.
MDOT Southern District Commissioner Tom King says the repairs of the bridge were treated as an emergency and the opening was completed ahead of schedule.
