Popular home decor store is on the way to South Mississippi. Here’s what we know
Two new restarants recently opened at Crossroads Shopping Center in Gulfport and two stores on the way are creating a buzz across South Mississippi.
PS Taco and Pedro’s restaurants already opened and are turning up the heat at the Crossroads, and Nothing Bundt Cakes bake shop could open by Aug. 22.
HomeGoods is the other new store on the way to the Gulfport shopping center, and it’s getting a big reaction.
“This just made my day,” one person commented after seeing a teaser on Facebook. Others said they no longer will have to drive an hour to shop HomeGoods in Hattiesburg, Mandeville, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama.
“HomeGoods is under construction in the former Overstock and it will be open this year for holiday shopping,” said Rhonda Sharkawy, senior retail leasing and development advisor for Stirling Properties, based in Covington.
The store will be between Academy Sports and T.J. Maxx.
HomeGoods features an “endlessly changing selection” of home decor, according to the store’s website, of furniture, bedding, lighting, rugs, seasonal, kitchen and bath, pets and decorative accessories.
The company says their team of "expert finders” travel the globe for interesting and fashionable merchandise from top brands, designers and artisans so shoppers can find a treasure for their homes.
The parent company of HomeGoods, TJX Companies also owns T.J. Maxx, Sierra Trading Post and Marshalls.
Stirling Properties and PMAT Companies purchased the shopping center at the intersection of U.S. 49 and I-10 in 2022. The first store opened in 1999 and the center now has Cracker Barrel, Longhorn Steakhouse and other restaurants, Cinemark Movie Theater and many retail and professional businesses.
