A luxury penthouse with rooftop access and views of the water is for sale in Gulfport

A penthouse for sale in a not-yet built condo complex in Gulfport is the latest in a line of upscale developments coming to the Mississippi Coast.

The three bedroom, three bathroom penthouse is listed for $900,000 and is inside the Handsboro Pointe complex off Cowan Road. A Redfin listing describes the penthouse as a “once in a lifetime” unit which exemplifies “luxury at its finest” and says that it is larger in size than most residential homes in the area.

Realtor Mary Phillips, who works for J. Carter & Company/Century 21, told the Sun Herald the multi-million dollar development is under construction and is expected to be completed in April or May 2023.

Phillips said the other three penthouses have already been sold and this is the last one on the market.

Only four other units remain for sale, she said, and they don’t have waterfront views.

Unlike most of the other units in this condo complex, the penthouse sits on the top floor with open access to the building’s rooftop.

“The amenities at the complex are going to include restaurants, bars, boutiques. They’re going to have a gym, elevators, and they’re going to have floating docks and an outdoor pool,” Phillips said.

The 3,000 square foot condo clocks in at $300 per square foot and comes with a $2,118 monthly HOA fee.

Phillips shared that the developers of Handsboro Pointe have a vision for the type of community they are creating at the condominium complex.

“They’re trying to make it like a golf cart community. They’re putting in some nice paved sidewalks to be able to golf cart to all the new restaurants that are coming up, so that’s going to be really cool. They’re having a boardwalk along the whole waterfront where they’re going to have the floating docks, so it’s going to be pretty special.”

Handsboro Pointe is in the center of new development along the Cowan Road corridor that includes restaurants, shops, boutiques and medical offices. The new Woody’s and Qdoba restaurants are within walking distance, as is a yoga studio, ice cream shop and Mangiamo Italian Restaurant.

Earlier this year, Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes called Cowan Road a hot spot for development and growth on the Coast.

The roadway, officially Mississippi 605, “has really developed into quite a retail and medical corridor,” he said.
