7-Eleven is different from most gas stations. Here’s what you’ll find at stores.
Editor’s note: 7-Eleven told the Sun Herald on Monday, April 11, that the company has no current plans to build a store in Biloxi.
The Mississippi Coast may soon get its first 7-Eleven where a popular Olive Garden restaurant used to be before Hurricane Katrina destroyed it in 2005.
Currently, the closest 7-Eleven convenience store is about four hours away in Lafayette, Louisiana. That’s about twice as far as the Buc-ee’s in Foley.
Many Coast residents have taken to Facebook, saying the 7-Eleven will be a welcome addition to the beach. But the popular store isn’t like other gas stations.
If you aren’t familiar with the 7-Eleven franchise, here are a few details you should know.
- It was the first to introduce to-go coffee cups and a self-serve soda fountain.
- The store is also responsible for the phrase “brain freeze,” due to its frozen Slurpee drink.
- The store’s name comes from its normal hours of operation, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- 7-Eleven was the first convenience store, however, to open 24 hours a day.
7-Eleven also offers customers hot or chilled foods, snacks, bakery items, ice cream and cold pressed juices. Some stores also sell wine.
Customers can download the 7Rewards app and receive exclusive offers, bonus points, and fuel rewards.
