What’s the best place to eat on the Coast? I’m letting you decide for me
As I approach the last week of my internship at the Sun Herald, I want to hear your dining suggestions. I’ve explored dozens of Coast restaurants on my own, but now it’s time for me to hear your input. Using this link, you can tell me your favorite Coast restaurants.
Born in the Delta and raised in Louisiana, I’ve grown up surrounded by Southern staples: crawfish boils, fried catfish and seafood platters that stretch from one end of the table to the other. While I consider myself a lifelong fan of anything that comes from the water, I try to avoid what I call “the two M’s” — mushrooms and meat. I may be a pescetarian, but I still know how to clean a plate.
Since arriving, I’ve sampled bowls of steaming pho at Vietnamese mom-and-pop shops and fresh-baked cookies from Mississippi Mud’s Cakes. I drank more iced coffees from Brew Paddle Cafe than I’d like to admit and I can say with certainty that the BBQ glazed salmon at Patio 44 is to die for.
However, I know I’m still missing out on so much of what this region has to offer.
Finding the best bite
Before I wrap up my time here, I’m calling on Coast locals, longtime foodies and anyone who knows a good hole-in-the-wall when they see one: What restaurant do I need to try before I leave?
Using the link below, you can submit your recommendations. I’m all ears, and appetite. I’ll compile your favorites into a beginner-friendly Coast dining guide before I go, something future food-lovers and newcomers can use to experience the Gulf Coast — bite by bite.
Tell me about your favorite Coast restaurant
Thanks for helping me make the most of the last week of my internship, and for helping me taste as much of the Coast as I can, one plate at a time.
