4 South MS restaurants fail inspections. One for bugs, rodents or animals on site
A grocery deli and three other kitchens failed their Mississippi Health Department inspections so far in Autust.
Wayne Lee’s Deli at 12109 Mississippi 63 South, Lucedale, had a scheduled inspection Aug. 13. It was cited for:
- Insects, rodents or animals present
- Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized
- Sewage wastewater not properly disposed
Corrected during inspection were:
- Proper date marking and disposition
- Adequate and washing facilities supplied and accessible
This is the fourth C in eight inspections since 2023. It’s the seventh C since 2010.
Subway restaurant inside Walmart at 11228 Mississippi 63 South in Lucedale, had a scheduled inspection on Aug. 7. The restaurant was cited for:
- No certified manager
- Last inspection permit not posted
A corrective follow-up inspection on Aug. 13 showed no violations and the restaurant scored a B.
This is the only C dating back to 2008.
Arby’s restaurant at 6528 Highway 3, Moss Point, was inspected Aug. 6 for a permit renewal. It was cited for:
- No certified manager
- Food not separated and protected
This is the first C. The prior two inspections were As.
92 Chicken, 3179 Mallet Road, D’Iberville, scored a C at its scheduled inspection July 30 and a corrective follow-up inspection Aug. 12 resulted in another C.
The Aug. 12 inspection resulted in citations for:
- No certified manager
- Improper hot holding temperatures
- Last inspection grade not posted
Corrected during the inspection was:
- Insects, rodents or animals not present
Three other inspections in the past two years at the restaurant resulted in As.
In addition to these four Cs for kitchen critical violations, Mississippi Department of Health inspectors gave 99 restaurants and kitchens in South Mississippi As with no violations since Aug. 1 and 16 Bs when violations were corrected during the inspection.
