  • The Steve Miller Band canceled its Sept. 23 concert due to extreme weather risks.
  • Tree Dog Night and Little River Band show postponed to Sept. 7 amid storm forecast.
  • Ticket refunds available through original vendors; automatic for Ticketmaster buyers.

One concert was canceled this week and another was postponed at The Sound Amphitheater in Gautier.

Those who have tickets to the Steve Miller Band concert on Sept. 23 won’t get to see the show. Neither will those who held tickets for more than 20 other venues.

“You can blame it on the weather — the tour is canceled,” the band posted in a surprise announcement on Instagram Wednesday, July 16. The reason given is weather concerns.

“The combination of extreme heat, unpredictable flooding, tornadoes, hurricanes and massive forest fires make these risks for you our audience, the band and the crew unacceptable.”

The Gautier concert was announced in May. The band is known for 1970s hits like “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Take the Money and Run” and “Jungle Love,” along with newer songs.

“Don’t know where, don’t know when — we hope to see you all again,” the Instagram post from the 81-year-old performer said.

Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster with a credit or debit card will automatically be refunded.

Those who bought tickets in person or at other ticket websites will need to request refunds from those points of purchase.

Weather postpones another concert

Forecasts for possible tropical storm development postponed the Three Dog Night and Little River Band concert scheduled for Saturday, July 19.

The bands now will play Sunday, Sept. 7 at The Sound.

Little River Band, the first group to set a record for releasing Top Ten hits in six consecutive years, will take the stage at The Sound Amphitheater after weather postponed the July concert.

“All tickets purchased for the original date will be honored for the rescheduled show — no further action is required,” The Sound management posted online. “If you are unable to attend the new date and would like a refund, please contact your original point of purchase.”

Refunds are available through 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.

Additional concerts for this year are still to be announced, according to The Sound schedule.
