  • Mississippi Coast hosts a summer slate of music, comedy, art and festival events
  • Twurt Chamberlain to debut on the Coast at historic 100 Men Hall on the Chitlin’ Circuit
  • Colt Ford resumes touring post-heart attack, performs June 21 in Biloxi with Drake White

Often dubbed the “birthplace of America’s music,” Mississippi boasts an impressive musical history and is home to legends such as Elvis Presley, Riley “B.B.” King and Howlin’ Wolf. The Coast alone features eight Mississippi Blues Trail markers, with cities such as Gulfport and Biloxi still echoing with sound from established and up-and-coming entertainers alike.

Between June and August, the Coast will host a packed lineup of performances from artists across genres including Christian singer Anne Wilson, Grammy-winning country star Dierks Bentley and rising Memphis-based rock band Sleep Theory. You can catch them—and many more—at venues, clubs and restaurants stretching from Gulfport to Biloxi and beyond.

For young talent, Mississippi can be a gold mine of inspiration and connection, making it a prime destination for music lovers seeking to enjoy both classic and emerging sounds.

Twurt Chamberlain, a blues, rock and hip-hop artist from Lexington, is looking forward to his first gig on the Coast at 100 Men Hall.

“Going to play at this venue is really cool because it’s the first venue I’ve played on that’s officially recognized as being on the Chitlin’ Circuit,” Chamberlain said.

The Chitlin’ Circuit is a network of venues where Black musicians could perform during segregation, when they were barred from performing on white-only stages.

Chamberlain said his June 20 performance will deliver a unique and authentic sound that’s difficult to find anywhere else.

“I’m not saying you can’t go to Los Angeles and get that experience, but you’re definitely gonna get in Mississippi,” Chamberlain said. “I want everybody to know that people travel from all around the world to visit and indulge in our culture.”

Colt Ford and Drake White

Concert-lovers interested in a more traditional country set can look forward to Colt Ford and Drake White’s June 21 performance at the IP Casino Resort Spa in Biloxi.

Ford, an American country musician and former professional golfer, performed on the Coast countless times and returns because of the region’s rich atmosphere.

“The people are generally happy down there and excited to be there, because the casinos are awesome. I’m always looking forward to coming back,” Ford said.

Despite suffering a near-fatal heart attack in April 2024, Ford is already back on tour.

“It’s just a blessing to be able to still be on stage. When I get the chance, I just give it all I got. That’s the only way I know how to do it,” Ford said.

From poetry readings to live wrestling and soft rock shows, the Coast is gearing up for a summer filled with diverse performances and nonstop entertainment. Here’s a look:
