East Central’s Tony Brown receives national recognition
The accolades continue to pile up for East Central running back Tony Brown.
USA Today released its All-USA Team on Tuesday and the speedy senior was named Second Team All-USA.
Brown is the only player from Mississippi to make the All-USA first- or second-team offense.
Brown also picked up the Gatorade Player of the Year award for the state of Mississippi a week ago.
While leading East Central to the Class 4A South State title this season, Brown rushed for 2,748 yards and 47 touchdowns.
The Hornets finished the season with a record of 13-1, losing 41-35 to Noxubee County in the Class 4A state title game with Brown suffering a separated shoulder in the second quarter.
Brown accounted for 92 touchdowns total over his junior and senior seasons.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Brown continues to be overlooked by Division I football programs in the region. He holds scholarship offers from Mississippi College, East Mississippi Community College Mississippi Gulf Coast Community.
