Who will replace Sean Tindell in the state Senate?
The race for a Senate seat on the Coast will happen in the middle of the holiday season.
Gov. Phil Bryant on Tuesday set the election for Senate District 49 for Dec. 19. A runoff, if needed, would be held Jan. 9. The qualifying deadline is Oct. 30.
District 49, which encompasses parts of Harrison County, was represented by Sean Tindell of Gulfport until he resigned Monday to join the state Appeals Court.
