The Bay-Waveland School District superintendent has resigned.
School Board attorney Ronnie Artigues confirmed the news Monday evening, telling the Sun Herald that Superintendent Rebecca Ladner submitted a letter of resignation to the board during Monday’s meeting.
The reason for Ladner’s resignation is not yet known. In a letter to faculty and staff, School Board President Casey Favre said Ladner “has resigned her employ due to personal obligations that require her urgent attention.” The resignation is effective immediately.
The board has temporarily assigned Assistant Superintendent Vikki Landry to handle to day-to-day duties of the superintendent. Landry will fill the role until the board selects an interim superintendent.
