A 34-year-old man was suffering from heart attack-like symptoms on Horn Island on Sunday when the Coast Guard responded and got him to a hospital.

The Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report from a local dispatch of a man using a personal watercraft suffering heart attack-like symptoms.

The Coast Guard launched a response craft and boat crew from Coast Guard Station Pascagoula with local emergency medical services on board. Mississippi Department of Marine Resources also responded, according to the Coast Guard press release.

Upon arrival, both responding units were unable to get close to the shore, according to the Coast Guard. The man was transferred from Horn Island to the response boat via personal watercraft, where the EMT evaluated him.

The man was taken to Singing River Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
