'Heavy fire' burns house in Gulfport

At approximately 1:59 am, the Gulfport Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 624 Mississippi Street, according to District Chief Frank Skinner. Once on scene, fire department personnel found a single-story structure with heavy fire. Units quickly extinguished the fire. No one was at home at the time.
