Body found by 2 people fishing in pond behind D’Iberville shopping center, police say

Two people fishing found a body floating in a pond on Thursday, D’Iberville police said in a press release.

Officers responded at about 2:30 p.m. to the 3600 block of Sangani Boulevard, just east of Interstate 110, across from The Promenade. The Biloxi River runs on the north side of the stores on Sangani Boulevard.

Police and fire department personnel recovered the body and turned it over to the coroner’s office.

The body’s identity is unknown but it is believed to be a homeless person, police said.

D’Iberville police and the Harrison County Coroner’s Office are still investigating the identity and cause of death.
