Want to be an extra in a Christmas movie filming in Gulfport? Here’s how to sign up
The production company working on a Christmas movie in Gulfport is looking for extras for filming Saturday in Jones Park.
The city put out a casting call Monday on its Facebook page.
The production company is trying to create a “festive atmosphere as a back drop for some very important scenes,” the post says.
Sign up must be completed by 6 p.m. Thursday with Casting the Coast, which is asking that would-be volunteers email photos of would-be participants to castingthecoast@gmail.com.
The subject line should say, “Volunteer extras.”
It’s going to be a long night, so the city recommends that those selected bring blankets, chairs, ice chests and snacks.
The Christmas lights are a main attraction, so filming will be at night, with volunteers expected “on set” (in Jones Park) from around 5 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday.
“We need everyone!” the city’s post says. “Young and old, couples, singles, anyone who wants to be an extra in a film.”
Much of the city’s breathtaking light display, Gulfport Harbor Lights Winter Festival, was installed early to accommodate the movie, which has already been shooting in and around Gulfport.
Apparently, the metal-framed Christmas trees with LED lights will be dancing to holiday music Saturday night. The city says Santa might even show up.
Either way, it sounds like a great chance to enjoy the light show without needing a coat!
