Firefighters send their own boat to fight boat fire on Back Bay
A boat fire on Back Bay lit up the night sky as firefighters pulled out a boat of their own to put out the fire.
The blaze about 10 p.m. Wednesday destroyed a 34- to 35-foot cabin cruiser that had been docked at an old pier at the north end of Lameuse Street.
The boat had a mechanical problem and the owner had left it until it could be fixed, Fire Chief Joe Boney said.
“The boat was tied up to a dock at the old Fayard’s factory and it didn’t have any walk boards so we pulled out our fire boat,” Boney said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Police blocked off neighboring streets temporarily.
