Body found near Biloxi harbor identified
The body recovered Thursday morning from the water near the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor has been identified.
The death of Michael Carle, 28, of Biloxi, was ruled an accidental drowning, said Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove.
Carle’s body was recovered around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, said Mississippi Department of Public Information Director Melissa Scallan. A backpack believed to belong to Carle was found on the beach nearby.
Biloxi police Sgt. Jackie Rhodes said a call came in from a shrimp boat at 5 a.m. Carle was found in about 6 feet of water a few yards off the beach in the channel north of Deer Island.
