Man killed in Hancock County crash identified

The 61-year-old man who died in a car crash early Friday morning has been identified by Mississippi Highway Patrol as David Charles Rockwell of Pearlington.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Chase Elkins previously said Rockwell died about 3:40 a.m. in a head-on crash on Highway 90 eastbound near Port Bienville.

Elkins said Rockwell was heading west in a 2000 GMC Sierra, which crossed the center line and hit a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 55-year-old man from Kiln.

Elkins said the 55-year-old was taken to Memorial hospital with serious injuries. Both men were wearing seat belts, he said.

The crash is still under investigation.
