Just call this bartender Mr. Roboto.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will introduce its new Robo Bar on Jan. 25 with a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. Robo Bar then opens to the public at 5:30 p.m.
The robotic bar system, designed by Italian company Makr Shakr, will be one of two land-based robotic bars in the United States, according to the Hard Rock; the other is in operation on the Las Vegas Strip.
Picture this: Two robotic arms, which can make 120 drinks per hour, await your order. A guest places the order on a customized app on pre-set tablets. Once the order is in the system, it goes up on four 92-inch LED screens, which show not only the name of the drink but the ingredients being added. Everyone gets to watch the robot muddle, stir, shake or strain and serve the drink. The robot doesn’t just shake and pour. It also can slice lemons or muddle mint for specific drinks.
Think you can stump Robo Bar? Just try. The system knows “billions of drink combinations and offers 140 different ingredients for guests to choose from,” according to a media release from Hard Rock Biloxi.
Robo Bar will be near the main lobby, just outside Hard Rock Cafe Biloxi. Hours will be 2 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Of course, people serving as hosts, ambassadors and technicians will also be part of the Robo Bar experience.
“When we saw this action in Vegas, we knew instantly this would be something our Biloxi patrons would enjoy,” said Mike Barlow, senior vice president for operations for Twin River Management Group, the ownership group for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi. “We want our guests to experience things at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi that they can’t find anywhere else on the Gulf Coast, or anywhere on the eastern half of the United States, for that matter.”
