It’s time to vote for the Mississippi Coast football Athlete of the Week for October 16

Now is your chance to vote for athlete of the week following another Friday night of district play around the Coast. The full top performers list can be found here.

This week’s football players are nominated from East Central, Gautier, George County, Gulfport, Pass Christian, St. Stanislaus and Vancleave.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon Friday, Oct. 20, at www.sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Ben Myrick, East Central: Myrick rushed for 229 yards and three touchdowns in the 48-35 loss to Laurel.
  • Solomon Baggett, Gautier: Baggett ran the ball 12 times for 185 yards and a touchdown in a win over Wayne County.

  • Nico Williams, Gulfport: Williams completed 10 of 10 passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the win over the Warriors.

  • Jacobe Street, George County: Street picked up 118 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Rebels’ 28-26 win over Hancock.

  • Jacquez Alexander-Dedeaux, Pass Christian: Alexander-Dedeaux ran for 230 yards and three touchdowns in the Pirates’ 41-12 win over Moss Point.

  • Ian Gonzalez Rioz, St. Stanislaus: Gonzalez Rioz threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another two scores in a 42-7 win over St. Patrick.

  • Derik Forehand, Vancleave: Forehan rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in a 27-23 win over Vancleave.
