It’s time to vote for the Mississippi Coast football Athlete of the Week for October 9

Week seven of the high school football season is in the books and it was a big one for district action around the Coast.

Now is your chance to vote for athlete of the week. The full top performers list can be found here.

This week’s football players are nominated from Bay High, Gautier, Hancock, Harrison Central, Ocean Springs, Pearl River Central and Poplarville.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon Friday, Oct. 13, at www.sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Benny Williams, Bay High: Williams rushed for 229 yards and two touchdowns in The Bay’s 37-34 win over Moss Point. Williams also recorded 11 tackles, five tackles for loss and three sacks.

  • Trey Irving, Gautier: Irving completed 18 passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 102 yards and another score in a 25-14 win over Vancleave.

  • Dylan Moran, Hancock: Moran threw for 278 yards and tossed three touchdown passes for the Hawks.

  • Tri Gaughf, Harrison Central: Gaughf completed 18 passes for 217 yards while rushing for 32 yards and a touchdown in the win over St. Martin.

  • Will Smith, Ocean Springs: Smith ran for 110 yards on 10 carries and scored two touchdowns in the Greyhounds’ 43-13 win over D’Iberville.

  • Qorday Russell, Pearl River Central: Russell threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-27 loss to Forest Hill.

  • Tylan Keys, Poplarville: Keys ran for 146 yards and three touchdowns in Poplarville’s 31-23 win over Pass Christian.
