It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for October 3

Now is your chance to vote on which star will be named the athlete of the week following the sixth week of high school football on the Mississippi Coast.

We have high school football stars from Picayune, Stone, Hancock, East Central, St. Stanislaus, St. Patrick and Ocean Springs on this week’s poll.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on Friday, Oct. 7, at www.sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Eli Smith, East Central: Smith toted the ball 18 times for 171 yards and three touchdowns in the Hornets’ 47-12 win over Pear River Central.
  • Zach Gullung, Hancock: Gullung ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns in the Hawks’ 35-21 win over St. Martin.

  • Daylon Collins, Stone: Collins ran for 229 yards and two touchdowns in Stone’s 45-18 win over Moss Point.

  • Keshawn Thomas, Ocean Springs: Thomas recorded 15 tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.

  • Dante Dowdell, Picayune: Dowdell ran for 240 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries in Picayune’s 49-7 win over Vancleave.

  • Otis Brooks, St. Patrick: Brooks ran the ball 11 times for 115 yards and a score. Also threw a touchdown and returned an interception for a score.

  • Chandler Chapman, St. Stanislaus: Chapman ran for 314 yards and three scores in the 38-20 win over Lakeshore.
