It’s time to vote for Sun Herald’s MS Coast Athlete of the Week for September 19

Now is your chance to vote on which star will be named the athlete of the week following the fourth week of high school football on the Mississippi Coast.

We have high school football stars from Picayune, St. Patrick, St. Martin, Stone, Pass Christian, Poplarvillle and Hancock on this week’s poll.

This is not a scientific poll, and you can vote as many times as you’d like until voting ends at noon on Friday, September 23, at www.sunherald.com.

Get to know the nominees here:

  • Zach Gullung, Hancock: Gullung had 173 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the Hawks’ 49-0 win over Lanier.
  • Karsten Mooney, Pass Christian: Mooney had 11 tackles and four tackles for loss in the Pirates’ 21-3 win over St. Stanislaus.

  • Dante Dowdell, Picayune: The Oregon commit had 232 rushing yards and three touchdowns, including a 98-yard score, in the 35-7 win over D’Iberville.

  • Maurice Travis, Poplarville: Travis had 113 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the 48-6 win over Terry.

  • Jaylon Dampeer, St. Martin: Dampeer ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns in the 42-26 win over Greene County.

  • Connor Tice, Stone: Tice completed 16 of 18 pass attempts for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Also added a rushing score.
