3 Harrison Central girls basketball stars sign to play at next level. ‘It feels good.’

Three Harrison Central Red Rebelettes made signed their national letters of intent and are officially continuing their basketball careers at the college level.

Hayleigh Breland and Laila Walker signed with Jackson State on Wednesday, while Khyla Ragins is heading to Pearl River Community College.

“It feels good to grind together and it feels good to succeed together,” Walker said. “We all got a seat at the table and it feels good that we’re successful.”

Walker and Ragins played all four years of high school ball under head coach Nancy Ladner, while Breland transferred in from Stone for her senior year.

The group quickly meshed and made a deep run in the playoffs this year before ultimately falling in the 6A championship game.

“It’s just the chemistry here, we’re all good friends,” Breland said. “We all love each other as teammates. It’s easy to play with a team of loving girls and being able to bond and just win.”

Walker and Breland are joining a program that just sent Gulfport native and West Harrison grad Ameshya Williams-Holliday to the WNBA.

The Red Rebelettes will reload and have young athletes moving up such as rising star Anaisha Carriere.
