Region 4-6A hasn’t made life easy on the Sun Herald’s pollsters.

Several of the regions teams had high hopes heading into the season but can never seem to find consistency from week to week. The erratic play of several of the Coast’s largest schools opened the door this week for Class 4A Pass Christian and Class 1A Resurrection to climb into this week’s Sun Herald Top 10. The Pirates (4-4) enter the week ranked No. 9 after defeating a competitive Moss Point team 12-0 on Friday.

RCS (4-5) is tied with D’Iberville (3-5) at No. 10 this week after throttling Mount Olive 42-0.

Harrison Central (3-5) received one point this week but fell out of the rankings after losing to No. 4 Gulfport (5-3) 33-14. Ocean Springs (3-5) and Biloxi (2-6) were tied with HCHS for the top spot entering the week, but the Greyhounds lost 31-30 to Pascagoula and Biloxi was dropped by St. Martin 31-3.

Poplarville (8-0) torpedoed Sumrall 46-0 to retain the top spot. East Central (7-0) picked up a point on Picayune (7-1) after rallying in the second half to beat No. 8 St. Stanislaus 41-7 but remains just behind the Maroon Tide. Dodd Lee’s Tide put away No. 7 Long Beach (5-3) 47-26.

Hancock (6-2) climbed one spot to No. 5 after dismissing the Warriors 56-28. Stone (4-3) jumped up one spot to No. 6 after shutting out Gautier 42-0.
