Gulfport came out on top in last week’s show-me game against upstart Hancock. The Admirals got it done on both sides of the ball, up-ending the Hawks 26-7, to climb two spots to No. 4 in the latest Sun Herald Top 10.

Through three games, the Region 4-6A leading Admirals have surrendered just 20 points, tops among their peers.

“We saw that they came off the ball pretty hard, but we believed we could stop them at the line of scrimmage so we dominated the trenches,” GHS linebacker Karlos Dillard told the Sun Herald post-game. “I think that prepared us to get the W.”

With the win the Admirals (4-3) were the biggest movers this week, essentially swapping places with No. 6 Hancock (5-2).

St. Stanislaus (4-3) defeated rival Bay 30-0 to move up one spot into a tie with Stone (3-3) at No. 7. D’Iberville also edged up the poll to No. 9 with a lopsided 42-13 win against Pascagoula (2-5).

Both Harrison Central (3-4) and Ocean Springs (3-4) used wins Friday to climb back into the land of the ranked at No. 10; The Red Rebels topped St. Martin 23-13 and OSHS nipped Biloxi, 26-21.

Ranked schedule

This week’s slate features plenty of ranked action: Gulfport visits Harrison Central, Hancock hosts D’Iberville, Ocean Springs goes to Pascagoula, Biloxi visits St. Martin (3-4), Gautier hosts Stone, No. 2 Picayune (6-1) is at No. 5 Long Beach (5-2), SSC plays at No. 2 East Central (6-0) and No. 1 Poplarville (7-0) travels to Sumrall.
