How to watch Mississippi Legislature vote on a new state flag without Confederate emblem
The Mississippi House of Representatives and Senate are voting Sunday to change the state flag with its Confederate emblem.
The House meets at 2 p.m. and Senate at 2:30 p.m.
House Speaker Philip Gunn said at the start of the House meeting that a bill was still in draft form and being worked on.
The flag bill must go through committee before going to the House floor, and then it will move to the Senate.
A two-thirds vote was needed Saturday to change rules to allow for today’s vote, and only a majority is needed today in the House and Senate to remove the flag.
If the House and Senate both pass a bill, it goes to the desk of Gov. Tate Reeves.
