Sophia Myers will be laid to rest in cemetery overlooking Fort Bayou
A church service Sunday was dedicated to Sophia Ann Myers, a 7-year-old student at Oak Park Elementary who died Friday.
The daughter of Josh and Angel Myers, Sophia’s suffering from a rare brain tumor called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma became a national story as her mother chronicled her daughter’s struggles until her death Saturday.
Sophia passed away at home with her parents by her side.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Riemann Family Funeral Homes at 13872 Lemoyne Boulevard.
A celebration of Sophia’s life will be held during services at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church East Campus on U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs, followed by internment at Evergreen Cemetery overlooking Fort Bayou. A reception will follow at the church.
The family is asking those who attend to wear clothing “as bright and fun as our beautiful girl was.”
