Online media outlets were abuzz Tuesday night with reports that Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer had filed a lawsuit seeking joint custody of the baby born last month to Bristol Palin.

An Alaskan court website indicated that Meyer filed the petition Monday.

TMZ.com and other websites said Meyer is seeking joint custody and child support for baby Sailor Grace.

Palin announced her pregnancy soon after her planned wedding to Meyer was canceled last May but did not name the baby’s father.

After Palin posted a photo on Instagram announcing the baby’s birth Dec. 24, Meyer tweeted “Best Christmas present ever!! I couldn’t be more proud of this little blessing.”

Palin, a former contestant on “Dancing With the Stars,” is the daughter of former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin told “Entertainment Tonight” that Meyer had “wanted nothing to do with either Bristol’s pregnancy or the baby.” She accused Meyer of trying to “save face.”

According to “Entertainment Tonight,” Bristol Palin’s representative David Martin said, “My values are such that a real American hero doesn’t ask for child support.”
