Dad kills his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend as she picks up daughter, IN cops say
A man convicted of shooting his ex-girlfriend and killing her boyfriend was sentenced to over a century in prison, Indiana officials said.
Tony Miller drove next to a vehicle where the mother of his child and her boyfriend, William Wilson, were waiting to pick up the woman’s daughter on Nov. 18, 2022, in Indianapolis, according to a probable cause statement. Miller shot at the couple, killing Wilson and injuring his ex-girlfriend, according to police.
He was convicted of murder and attempted murder and was sentenced to 105 years in prison by a Marion County judge on June 11, according to court documents.
Miller’s attorney could not be reached for comment on June 16.
On the day of the deadly shooting, the woman’s daughter had just waved to her from inside her grandmother’s home when she arrived for pickup, police said. Then, Miller drove next to the mother’s vehicle and fired.
“Your son just shot us,” the woman told Miller’s mother as they scrambled to call for help, the affidavit said.
The grandmother and daughter did not see the shooting, according to police, but the grandmother said she heard it.
Miller drove off as 911 was called, according to police. He was arrested on unrelated warrants on Nov. 23, just three days after Wilson died from the gunshot wound to the head, court documents said.
The woman, who was shot in the arm, told police she never had issues with Miller since their breakup about two to three years prior unless Wilson, her boyfriend of approximately one year, was with her, according to the affidavit.
About two months prior to the shooting, the woman told police Miller shot at her windows with a BB gun, but she never reported it, court documents said.
