Cop tries to kiss woman he met on mental health call, Texas report says
A police officer responded to a mental health call at a woman’s residence where he detained her and took her to a behavioral health hospital for treatment, Texas officials said.
In the weeks after her release, San Antonio Police Officer Anthony Aldaco continued to show up at the woman’s home unannounced and unauthorized, a human resources report said. In one instance, he tried to kiss her, according to the report.
Now, Aldaco is on a 45-day suspension without pay, the March 12 report said.
Aldaco met the woman at her home on March 16, 2024, when he was called to a mental health crisis, the report said.
Shortly after her discharge, Aldaco showed up at the woman’s home on March 23 in a police uniform to see how she was doing, the report said. According to police, he was not responding to any calls for service at her home or near her residence.
On April 13, he showed up again, according to human resources.
During his third “unsolicited” visit May 7, he was off-duty and not wearing his uniform, the report said. During this visit, he offered to take her to pick up food and bring her home after, officials said.
The woman told police she was feeling “vulnerable” and wanted someone to talk with, the report said, so she agreed to go with him.
Aldaco took the woman through the McDonald’s drive-thru and then to a park, not back home as he originally offered, the report said.
They sat in his vehicle in the park when he locked the vehicle, unbuckled his seat belt and leaned over, the woman told police. She thought he was trying to kiss her, and when she didn’t reciprocate, he drove her home, the report said.
“I, honestly I was, I was very nervous. I was very uncomfortable and I was very scared,” the woman said in a video statement, according to the human resources report.
Aldaco showed up unannounced once more on Nov. 4, but the woman was not home, according to the report. She filed a complaint with the San Antonio Police Department the next day.
The investigation found Aldaco was near the woman’s home on five separate occasions, but failed to have his body worn camera on.
The officer’s suspension started March 28 and will run through May 11, according to city documents.
