Detective threatens to kill girlfriend and man she was at concert with, TX cops say
While an off-duty detective was at a concert with a friend, he saw his girlfriend enter the Texas venue with another man.
Detective Kevin Landrum of the San Antonio Police Department is accused of drunkenly confronting the two people the evening of Oct.6 and threatening to kill them, according to City of San Antonio human resources records.
He’ll now serve a 15-day unpaid suspension, May 29 records show, reduced from the proposed 30-day suspension.
According to records, during the initial confrontation with his girlfriend and the man, Landrum told the man, “You don’t know who I am. You don’t know what I can do to you. You know, I have land.” He later said, “I got a backhoe and a lot of land.”
Landrum’s then-girlfriend and the man said the detective appeared to be intoxicated during the exchange at John T. Floore’s Country Store in Helotes, according to records.
Later that night, Landrum threatened to shoot and kill his girlfriend and the man, records say.
“I’m tired of this, like I’m tired of your games. What’s going to end up happening is I’m going to end up killing you and shooting (the man),” he said, according to records.
Landrum then grabbed a gun from his vehicle and held it in both hands as he walked toward the dance hall where the man was inside, the records said.
Landrum’s credit card records from the evening show he purchased 17 beers and cocktails in under four hours, according to the discipline records. Detectives are allowed to drink off duty, according to police, but they cannot drink so much that they are “unfit to report for duty.”
The records say Landrum was suspended for committing acts showing lack of good moral character and intoxication while off duty.
No criminal charges were listed for Landrum.
He is scheduled to serve his 15-day suspension from June 23 to July 7.
Helotes is about an 18-mile drive from northwest of San Antonio.
