Pothole prompts latest round of ‘major delays’ on I-10 near future MS Coast Buc-ee’s
Traffic slogged again Friday on Interstate 10 near the future Buc-ee’s Travel Center after a pothole forced road crews to close one westbound lane for emergency repairs, the Mississippi Department of Transportation said.
The westbound right lane is closed near Vidalia Road in Harrison County, MDOT said. Crews are making emergency repairs on a pothole, MDOT spokesperson Anna Ehrgott said.
The closure started at 8 a.m. and will last through 5 p.m., according to MDOT. The agency earlier estimated the lane would reopen by 2 p.m. but extended the closure to finish repairs.
The agency warned “major delays” would persist Friday afternoon.
Traffic slowed from the Kiln DeLisle Road exit to County Farm Road, an MDOT map showed. The agency estimated delays would end by 5 p.m.
MDOT asked drivers to be on alert for roadside workers.
The delays are the latest at the often-congested area of I-10, where Buc-ee’s is expected to open next spring. Rainy conditions also led to delays earlier this month.
