Evacuees finding delays on I-10 near Alabama line after crash, South MS authorities say
A crash on Interstate 10 near the Mississippi-Alabama state line caused delays Tuesday afternoon, Mississippi authorities said.
A camper overturned in the median is slowing drivers on I-10 near Franklin Creek Road, Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Landon Orozco said. Another vehicle also crashed in the median on I-10 near Exit 61 to Gautier, Orozco said. No injuries were reported.
The overturned camper near Franklin Creek Road caused backups in I-10’s eastbound lanes on Tuesday. Cars slogged through a near standstill at 3:30 p.m., and traffic stretched west to Highway 63.
At 3:55 p.m., the Mississippi Department of Transportation estimated delays would last another hour.
The delays may slow Louisiana drivers traveling east to evacuate Tropical Storm Francine, which is expected to make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday as a Category 2 storm.
