Vancleave shooting leaves one dead, sheriff says
A Jackson County man has been arrested on a murder charge in the shooting death of his cousin Monday evening.
Jackson County sheriff's deputies responded about 6:20 p.m. to a report of a shooting at 16121 McGregor Road in the Vancleave area, Sheriff Mike Ezell said in a press release.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke to witnesses and learned Mose Ben Wells, 57, who lived at the residence, shot his cousin, Eric Hampton, Ezell said.
Wells was arrested on the scene.
Hampton, 41, who lived in the 15000 block of McGregor Road, was taken by ambulance to Ocean Springs hospital where he died a short time later.
