Pascagoula shooting victim released from hospital, no arrests made

PASCAGOULA -- A man who was wounded during a Friday night shooting in Pascagoula has been released from an area hospital.

Pascagoula Police Lt. Calvin Hutchins said the shooting victim was treated for a gunshot wound to the arm. He did not release the name of the victim.

Pascagoula police responded to a report of a fight and shots fired near Aaron's Furniture, in the 3400 block of Denny Ave. around 6:30 p.m. Friday, officials said. The business is located in the Chicot Crossing shopping center.

Witnesses told police several men in two separate vehicles approached a man and started assaulting him.

Pascagoula Police Capt. Shannon Broom said they were pistol-whipping the victim with a handgun when it discharged and struck him in the arm.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Police are searching for several suspects who fled the scene immediately after the shooting in a green SUV -- possible a Nissan or Toyota -- and a gold Acura.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Pascagoula Police Department at (228) 762-2211.
