PASCAGOULA -- Police are searching for several suspects who fled the scene of a Friday evening shooting that left a man wounded, Capt. Shannon Broom said.

At about 6:48 p.m., Pascagoula police responded to call of a fight and shots fired near Aaron's Furniture on the 3400 block of Denny Ave. The business is located in the Chicot Crossing shopping center.

Witnesses told police that several men in two separate vehicles approached a man and started assaulting him. Broom said they were hitting the victim with a handgun when it discharged and struck the victim in the arm.

Broom said the victim was able to run away, and suspects shot at him as he was fleeing for help.

The suspects fled the scene in a green SUV -- possible a Nissan or Toyota -- and a gold Acura.

The condition of the victim wasn't immediately available.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Pascagoula Police Department at 762-2211.
