The Sun Herald reached out to Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley for more information, but has not heard back.

McBride had run for mayor in the River City several times.

His death came in the aftermath of an unrelated double homicide on Monday in the area of Diamond Street. Police did not release details in that investigation either.

The coroner identified the victims of the double homicide as Alvin Myers, 70, and Cynthia Tucker, 59. Lynd said both victims appeared to have been shot.
