Police ID man who died after allegedly showing up armed at ex-girlfriend’s MS Coast home
Police have identified a man who died last weekend in Bay St. Louis after authorities say he showed up armed at an ex-girlfriend’s home and was shot by a family member.
Interim Chief Alvin Kingston identified the man who died as Renelder Charles of Bay St. Louis.
Police were called at 9:30 p.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Bookter Street and found Charles suffering from a gunshot wound, Kingston said.
Police said Charles arrived at the home of his ex-girlfriend in violation of a domestic violence protection order. He allegedly became aggressive, argued with her and held a gun in a “threatening manner,” police said.
Kingston said the father of the woman’s children was visiting the home and was also armed. Police said last weekend that an armed family member at the scene shot Charles “in fear for their life and others.” Kingston said Friday that police had not arrested anyone in the case.
“All parties involved in this shooting incident knew each other and are accounted for,” Kingston said last weekend. “We are not searching for any suspects.”
Charles was brought to a local hospital, where he died.
