Man faces four counts of aggravated assault after Jackson County road rage shooting
The Gulfport and Gautier police departments have made an arrest in last month’s road rage shooting that happened on Interstate 10 near the Martin Bluff Road overpass.
After being taken into custody Monday afternoon by Gulfport police, Ladairrius Quatez Murphy was transported to the Gautier Police Department and charged with four counts of aggravated assault related to the Sept. 9 incident.
The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Sept. 9.
When police arrived at the scene, they found two victims and two crashed vehicles.
While traveling westbound on I-10, the victims were shot at by people in the second crashed vehicle at the scene.
Murphy and two other suspects allegedly fled the scene before police arrived. Gautier Police Chief David Bever said the shooting occurred after a fight between the two groups in Moss Point.
The two victims were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Murphy is being held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center pending his initial court appearance.
Anyone with information about this crime should call Gautier police at 228-497-2486.
