Authorities identify body of homicide victim found off Belle Fontaine beach
The body of a homicide victim found in the water off Belle Fontaine beach near Ocean Springs last week has been identified, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.
Authorities recovered the body from the water on June 30 and asked for the public’s help last week to identify the victim.
The man had several tattoos and was wearing bracelets when his body was found. Authorities released pictures in hopes of finding out who he was.
Marcia Hill, public information and community relations officer for the sheriff’s department, said the identity of the man is not being released until his family can be notified.
An autopsy to determine cause of death is pending, Hill said in a press release.
