Woman fatally shot, 2nd person wounded at apartment complex where toddler died earlier

Biloxi Police are investigating a shooting Sunday night that left one person dead and another hospitalized.

The woman who died in the shooting was identified as Mary Williamson, 39, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer said. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Switzer said a second person was found shot and injured in a separate location at the Elmwood Apartments in the 200 block of Lawrence Street, off east Pass Road. The second victim was taken from the scene to Merit Health Biloxi and later transferred to USA Hospital in Mobile

Williamson and the other person who was shot were friends and not suspected of shooting one another, Switzer said, after talking to the homicide victim’s family.

The shooting happened at the same apartment complex where a 4-year-old child died earlier this month, and that death remains under investigation

Capt. Milton Houseman Jr. with the Biloxi Police said the shooting happened at 10:50 p.m. Sunday

When police got there, they found Williamson dead and the other person shot and injured. The second shooting victim remains in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
