Slidell man wanted after robbery gone wrong leaves Waveland man dead, police say
Law enforcement authorities are looking for a Slidell man wanted in a fatal shooting earlier this month that was first thought to be in Gulfport, police said.
An arrest warrant was signed Monday for Trequan Rollins.
He is wanted in the March 1 shooting death of 30-year-old Lamar Henry of Waveland, Gulfport Detective Jason Ducre said in a press release.
Police had previously said two men brought Henry, who had multiple gunshot wounds, to a hospital in Bay St. Louis.
On Monday, Ducre said 26-year-old Lamar Hargett is the one who brought Henry to the hospital. Hargett had told detectives he and Henry were involved in an incident in Gulfport.
However, Ducre said Gulfport and St. Tammany Parish detectives found that the two had gone to Slidell in order to rob Rollins in the early morning hours of March 1. When Rollins saw the men parked near his residence on Ash Drive, they fled and Rollins followed and exchanged gunfire.
One of the shots killed Henry.
Officers arrested Hargett on March 12 on a charge of second-degree murder, and he was transferred to the St. Tammany jail.
Rollins also was booked into the St. Tammany jail that day on unrelated charges, and later released.
Gulfport now has a warrant for Rollins’ arrest on the charges of: first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon, and obstruction of justice.
